Will it be a good idea to search engine optimize my website by using IFTTT to earn by blogging adsense income

I'm thinking of posting pages from my website to my social media automatically whenever I make a new page to increase my SEO. Will this actually work with the way Google currently runs searches? I read earlier that social media backlinks don't count.
