I started a Marketing Agency and FAILED my way to my version of success with a couple hundred bucks, my best friend, and no experience. AMA. earn by blogging adsense income

I have never done an AMA or really ever shared much on here. I'm trying to do Twitter more but always feel like my opinions don't matter yet.

I'm just as lost as anyone else starting an agency, but have been blessed to grow 300% every year.

If you have any questions about starting or running an agency I'd love to help the best I can.

I can talk all about my latest failures and what I'm going to try and test next.

To those who have experience drop shipping, is/was it worth it? What's it like? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I posted here awhile back and was recommended to do drop shipping. Since I'm a college student I'd thought it'd be a good try but the way it was described to me in simple terms was buying from a place like AliExpress and then shipping to the customer when they order. Which to me seems a little too simple and since I can set up free websites and all it almost seems like I'd break even as soon as I sell one product. I know that doesn't guarantee anymore traffic to my sites or anything but what other risks are there? The risks seem so minimal compared to the advantages of it being successful, do people make good money too dropshipping?

I just wanted to post a few questions before I go through with it, even with bigger risks I'm still willing to but I was hoping for clarification. Thank you!

Today my own branded product hit #1 Best New Release in the category on Amazon...and sold out in one day! entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

And I'm terrified. I went into this with almost zero capital, ran up my credit cards and today, randomly, I ran out of product and it hit #1 Best New Release in its category on Amazon. It was a low MOQ to begin with because of lack of capital. I still don't have enough money to order more at the moment and only have about 50 more items at home that I sell on my store and at flea markets/festivals, etc. At first today, I saw two sales, then 4, then 8, then 14...and I thought it was a joke. It's not. I'm out of product, out of money (until Amazon's next payment) and I still have to pay rent. Aside from sending the rest of my inventory in to Amazon, what else can I do?? I have another design of this product that is already in production and I'm already going to have to rob Peter to pay Paul to pay for it (I've already put down a deposit...there's no going back). But I need to get more of the design that has sold out, pay bills and guess what else? The car needs a new alternator. UGH! I should be excited, but tonight, I'm sleepless and terrified. What if I figure out how to order more and they stop selling? What if the new designs don't sell? What if all these new orders come back with iffy reviews? My product is kind of seasonal for the US and I have an idea for a similar product that may do well all year. But I'm stuck in a situation with no capital to even buy the stuff I've already committed to. My profit from the sales today won't come in for another 2 weeks. Is this what they mean by "the grind?" It's exciting and stressful. I could very easily fail right at the moment things are going unbelievably well.

Small business, will be implementing Mailchimp for the first time. Trying to strategically set up our automated email-gathering so we can send different campaigns to different audiences. entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I'm new to online strategy and email campaigns and looking for some tips. Feel free to ridicule any ignorance I reveal. I'm not even certain I'm posting in the ideal sub.

Present situation

We have a small business. It's a local martial arts and self defense gym. Main income is from memberships for the ongoing classes and from single-day seminars that are open to non-members. Now we are in the process of creating email courses that anyone can purchase online.

We don't have any automation set up at the moment, but we're planning for growth so we want to approach this in a strategic way. Things are pretty old school at the moment, and I see tons of potential for cleaning up the system. Currently, our lead magnet on the website is a savings coupon for membership (soon to be changed to a free trial membership). After people enter their info, the coupon loads right on the website and they can download it. We get notified, then manually reach out to them, then hopefully they become members.

It looks really easy for MailChimp to take over this process (automatically add them to the List and send welcome email with their coupon). This would be great if all we offered was memberships, but this offer and the resulting emails we collect only speaks to one potential group of customers (people who think they want to be members). We'll have to change the offer to something else, like a free ebook or free short intro course, and hopefully we can reach all our potential audiences with one offer.

Rambling Question(s)

Getting to my question, I need to implement automation that allows us to send targeted campaigns to several different groups. And I am getting confused/overwhelmed. Does Mailchimp (or other) have the ability to log all of the following types of customers so we can send them different campaigns?

  • Locals who inquire about seminars vs locals who actually attend a seminar
  • Locals who inquire about membership vs locals who actually become members
  • Locals who are potential students for the online courses vs locals who buy the course
  • Non-locals who are potential students for the online courses vs non-locals who buy the course

The way I see it, there are different opportunities/campaigns for each of the above audiences. How do I capture these different categories in an automated way? It's feeling really complicated in my head.

Is it as simple as offering a free gift with checkboxes on the opt-in form that allow website visitors to select what they want to hear more about? And if they go on to purchase something, we could then send occasional emails offering them our other services?

It also seems like we'd need all memberships and purchases to go through the website in order for our email list to note who became a member, or who purchased a seminar/course. Does that sound right? Otherwise we'll be manually tracking when an inquiry converts to a member, and so on?

Related Question

We don't have MailChimp integrated yet, but we have a list of past website contacts, plus ~700 other email addresses from past seminars. Once I have those emails imported into the email management system, what would you recommend:

  • Do I need to send all these people a "Please opt-in/please confirm your subscription" email?
  • Or do I just start sending emails (judiciously) and trust that they will unsubscribe if they want to?

Thank you in advance if you can point me in the right direction with one or several of these questions.

How long did it take you to earn money in this industry? earn by blogging adsense income

Long story short, I have a few successful online businesses that allow me to work remotely and travel a fair bit.

I've recently met a girl I really like and would like to travel with. However, she does not have any money making abilities online.

She's very pretty and is good at sales so I recommended that she learn some local SEO. Find some clients in smaller markets paying her $500-$1000 a month each and she could join me.

She has about a 4-6 month window to learn a new skillset. Me paying her way is not an option for me.

What do you guys think? Possible?

Window Cleaning guy back with another update. (sorry I missed a month) entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

Okay, it's been a little while. I didn't post an update after June probably because it was a TERRIBLE month (more on that later). For those that dont know... back in Feb I found out that my position with my company was going away and literally started a window cleaning company overnight (see links to original posts and my youtube diary below if you want to follow the journey)...bla bla bla, I have had many successes and failures and have learned quite a bit so far.

After coming off of another almost $10,000 revenue month (didnt even get close to my $15,000 goal) in May I followed it up with a $3,000 month in June. That was a very discouraging period. On top of it all my landlord informed me that we had to move by July 1st adding a lot of additional expense and stress. Lets just say that June sucked and leave it at that. The biggest reason that my revenue dropped in June is because I sort of 'lost my way'. We are also in the slower season compared to the spring time but the big issue was my effort and focus. I started getting distracted too much with the whole 'work on your business instead of in it' thing. To be clear, I 100% understand and subscribe to that philosophy but when you are new there are really two important things: 1. make sales 2. complete jobs so that you can collect money. I was focusing on the next step so much that I stopped doing what had given my my early success which was TONS of effort in prospecting. The rough June slapped me in the face and helped me get back on track.

I mentioned that I bought a pressure washing trailer (very cheap on craigslist!) and had just begun to add those services to my business. Since I have started promoting pressure washing (simply by adding it to my flyers) roughly 80% of our business has been pressure washing. I'm interested to see where this goes as I am not going to force it either way. Our company identity has become the 'exterior cleaning' company (we also do interior window cleaning). We now offer cleaning from the roof of your house, to the siding, to the sidewalk and driveways. The reason for the addition of pressure washing was because a large percentage of my customers were asking us if we did it and I had been giving the work to another company and watching them make the money.

I have been very undisciplined on my bookkeeping so I cannot give exact numbers on my net vs gross at this time (I know....i'm in the process of fixing this). On any given job my labor expense is around 30% and my supplies range anywhere from 1% - 8% (low on window cleaning and higher on pressure washing). Liability insurance costs $1300/year.

When I first started all of my energy was going after commercial work with the exception of a lead generation site that I used for residential. At this time we have 100% stopped pursuing commercial and are solely going after residential. I do see value in large commercial work and will likely pursue it once I get the residential side of the business streamlined.

My current marketing strategy is flyers, flyers and more flyers. I have had limited success with them and then I did a complete redesign on the flyer style and have had a MUCH better response rate. I am finally getting things started online but I am not there yet.

I finished July with just over $9,000 in revenue. As hard as I am working I dont know if August will be much better simply because of the time of the year. I am planning on and expecting my revenue to significantly increase around October due to all of the snow birds coming back to Florida and getting their homes spruced up again.

I'm sure that there are other things that Im could mention but it's late. Hit me up with any questions and I'll do my best to answer.

Big thanks to this community for the moral support. It's been awesome having a lot of strangers pull for you.

I'm 21 and recently sold my startup to one of the most popular entrepreneurs on the internet. I want to dedicate the next year of my life developing my next project... I also want to document the journey thoroughly on a blog. Is there value in creating a personal internet presence like this? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

Being 21 I feel like I don't have too much real world experience, but one thing that might give me some sort of authority or authenticity is the fact that 3 months ago I sold my startup that I had been working on alone for 2 years to one of the internet's most popular/famous entrepreneurs.

With that being said, I'm planning on starting a new project. I'll be dedicating a year of my life to building, launching, and running it.

The reason why I'd like to document the process is:

  1. I think writing a blog with a strict deadline would encourage me to work on my startup perhaps more than I would've, and I really like that. I would essentially be lighting a fire under myself which I really need sometimes.

  2. The second reason would be to create a personal brand around myself. I would hope that I can tell a compelling enough story where people are excited to read my next blog post, see what steps I take to hopefully selling my next startup. It would be a decent platform for advertising the project when it's done, and I also think building a personal internet presence online would open up more doors than it would close.

  3. Finally, I think people would genuinely be interested in it.

So with my reasoning laid out, does it sound worth it? I'd essentially be targeting entrepreneurs for this blog, so i thought I'd just ask here before I take any steps.

Would this interest you? Is Medium the way to go?

Help eBay dropshipping? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

So what I've been doing is what I learned from a guy I follow on Instagram and Snapchat named Jeffrey Bunting. So what he describes he did as a teenager, and still does, is find products on Walmart or another website and list the same product on eBay and dropship it. I thought, what the hell, I could do that. So I listed three different products over a span of about a week and I'm getting a max of around 20 views and I've only recieved one offer for less than what I would have to pay. What's a competitive fixed price for building this website? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

My colleague is forming a start-up. He wants me to build a wordpress based website that will have:

  • Single Scrolling Page with

    1. About Us
    2. Features
    3. Contact
    4. Subscribe Feature
  • Wordpress framework

  • Contact Page integrated into Hubspot CRM

  • Google Analytics

  • Content all created by me

The site will incorporate custom graphics that I will also make myself. I have done sites before, but I cannot guess hours required. This isn't my day job.

I'm leaning towards a fixed fee plus a "revision" fee for when he wants some things changed or updates.

Just curious what you would pay for this?

I'm guessing $800-1000 for the fixed price including 3 months of updates.

Revisions or updates thereafter will be $50/hr.

/r/entrepreneur I need your help. I'm at the stage in life where I'm 'stuck'. entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I'll start off with a bit about myself... I'm late 20's still living at home with my mother. I'm unable to get a full time 'real' job due to health reasons. I was recently diagnosed with a chronic sleep disorder where I have no control over what time I get tired and wake up, medication I was given hasn't worked and alarm clocks don't work, I literally need someone to punch me in the face to wake me up before my body decides to wake up naturally.

I've been stuck in a rut for many years now with the same ideas going round in my head. I was hoping some of you guys could give me some fresh ideas for my brain to process.

I've made money online in the past, I sold an Instagarm account for 4 figures about 4 years ago back when it was a piece of cake to build an account. I've had various affiliate blogs in different niches, had CPA sites with youtube channels, had my own e commerce store with physical stock which I had to pack in due to a change in the law making in near impossible for me to compete, tried Amazon Merch and only had 1 sale and the most recent was dropshipping, just scraped 4 figures in sales but it wasn't sustainable due to the price of the ads and the mounting costs from Shopify and Paypal/Stripe.

I don't have many skills but I know my way around Wordpress/Shopify easily, can interact with people/potential customers on social media, can use DSLR cameras with ease, limited Photoshop knowledge, full knowledge of lightroom and that's about it really.

Any advice, ideas or anything positive that I can do with my life to move me forwards would be greatly appreciated.

Whose Dream are You Chasing? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I used to chase the dream.

You know the one.

Or, at least I think you do.

It’s the one that goes like this.

Go to school. Get “good” grades, so you can get into a “good” college. Maybe a “good” college isn’t “good” enough. Maybe it has to be the “right” college.

Anyway…

Then you go to that college so you can get a “good” job. Or maybe it’s the “right” job.

Then you get that job so you can accumulate the external signs of wealth. They show that you made it. They show that you made “good” decisions. Or maybe the “right” decisions.

You buy that car. You buy that house. Maybe you buy that watch too.

And again. And again.

Who’s dream is that anyway?

I think it was somewhere in between. Anyway, I’m feeling fortunate to wake from it.

What are your guys suggestions on how to become a very 'personable' seller? For example - talking fluently, ad copy writing, speaking that gets people motivated, basically just naturally connecting with a customer or client so that they will trust you.

Business License / Legal Documents entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

Hello,

Wondering what is required before opening an Online Clothing business in the state of Michigan. I mailed my LLC filing request and know it's going to take a while before I hear back, but besides the EIN what else is required? At this point I'm reading that you can start your Shopify or e-commerce store without these documents. Google doesn't seem to have an exact answer and most of the documents I found on michigan.gov are related to physical businesses.

Help is most appreciated.

A short while ago, Wix changed the way they hand tax information to PayPal. They didn't notify users, and my startup now faces a £10k tax bill. What are my options? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

At the beginning of Q2, Wix stores changed from PayPal Payment Standard, to Express checkout. This means that VAT information needed to be updated within Wix.

I was not notified, and none of our Q2 sales, and the first 3 weeks of our Q3 sales had VAT charged. As a result, we will likely now have to cover a £10k vat bill.

It won't kill my company, but its going to hurt.

I've contacted wix support. No reply.

I've tweeted to a couple of media outlets to see if they might want to help by applying PR pressure. Nothing yet.

Does anybody else have any suggestions?

Developer looking to network entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

Hey everyone!

I am a programmer looking to connect with fellow entrepreneurs. I have been working as a freelancer for a while and have recently gone through the process of joining toptal.

Once I am currently looking for work, you might consider hiring me. I am also interested in working on side projects and creating interesting things.

I guess one could say my objective in life is to become like Elon Musk where my businesses have enough of a return to keep me fed and I can focus on improving life for others and advancing society as a whole. That is quite a big dream however, so I'll be starting small for now.

I'd love to get in touch with some of you who are interested in working on developing great ideas, maybe you have a cool project or are a developer yourself and are looking for someone to bounce things around and try to get rich with. Perhaps we can work together on finding great clients with interesting projects to work on.

Maybe you have some issues with the businesses you have going on, then I could work on solving those problems for you for a lower than usual price and in turn sell them to people who are facing the same.

Thank you so much for your time and attention!

Just launched my media digitization business...need your feedback! entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

My Story

I quit my job last December after the company I was working at started having issues with payroll and trouble securing funding. I have been freelancing either full time or on the side since I graduated college and had the extra work lined up and thought what the hell. Time to build something.

After a few failed ideas and working through what I am really confident and passionate about pursuing, I settled on a media digitization business. Combining my background in digital photography and marketing and my girlfriend’s masters degree in archives, we launched our business, Keep Case.

What We Do

Keep Case digitizes photos, negatives, films, tapes and documents through the mail. You place an order on our site, we mail your Keep Case to you, you pack your items to return to us and we preserve and restore your analog media as archival quality digital files on DVDs or USB drives.

Our key differentiator at the moment is our quality and image restoration services. Many of our competitors that I have tested out have cut off peoples heads in images, not bothered cleaning slides, and produced low resolution files that if anything ever happened to the originals would be a shame to have left as the only resemblance of the original. And these are multi-million dollar businesses experiencing huge growth.

I’ve spent about 3 months working on everything myself. From the branding, package design, website, photography, copy; all of it. I’ve begun test orders with some family and friends to get the word out and running some minor Adwords campaigns to test the waters. I’m feeling skeptical. I’m not sure that our message is clear, which is that we want to give people the BEST quality digitization, and that it is important when digitizing priceless family photos and videos to have it done right, by professionals.

So, before I continue to invest more of my time and money I am asking for your feedback. What, if anything, is missing from the site and our messaging. If you are familiar with any similar services, do you think I am doing enough to differentiate what I am offering? Is the name stupid? Branding terrible? Anything. If you started a service business in a competitive field, where did you gain traction?

Please feel free to tell me any and all your thoughts in the comments and do not hold back.

Looking for help with moz earn by blogging adsense income

So I'm a web designer, i do sales and have a design team that cranks out beautiful work. 99% of my clients need help with directory listings and i've been told moz is probably the best way to handle this. The problem is I don't have to time to really learn how it works and "run it" and claim the listings and get everything optimized.

Do any of you offer that as a service? I'd preferably give the name/address/phone/logo to a person and let them use moz to claim all the directories. Any of you do that? I'm looking for quotes.

Etsy vs eBay vs Amazon vs Shopify for Private Label entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I just wrote a (content marketing) post on my company's blog comparing Etsy, eBay, Amazon and Shopify. I thought this might be a good place to leave a summary since it's where the most threads have been posted asking about two or more of these services.

Full disclosure, I'm hoping you guys might point out any glaring omissions or smaller details that I've missed.

Online Marketplaces and Webstores:

If you’re looking to start a small business selling private label products online, you have two options:

Marketplaces: Existing e-commerce sites where you can list your products for sale. We’ll be looking at Etsy, eBay and Amazon.

Webstores: Your own website with its own online shop. We’ll primarily be looking at Shopify because it’s the most suitable for an independent entrepreneur.

Marketplaces.

The Pros and Cons of a Marketplace

Because Etsy, eBay and Amazon are marketplaces, they share these features:

Pros

  • Anyone can get started: All it takes to start selling is to sign up and list something. No knowledge of web design required.
  • Existing customer-base: Millions of people already shop on these sites, so you don’t have to worry as much about finding a customer base. Additionally, people have a chance of stumbling on your items while browsing.
  • Established trust: Most online buyers will trust an established online marketplace over a random website, especially if they’ve used it before.
  • High SEO Authority: Listings on major marketplaces can rank highly on search engines due to the fact that they are some of the most highly visited pages on the internet.
  • Manage with an app: Etsy, eBay and Amazon can all be conveniently managed with seller apps on your phone. Additionally, they all have SaaS-type apps available for desktop use.

Cons

  • Saturated market: You will have to compete with everyone else listing items on the site. This means that the work doesn’t end at just posting your items for sale, you’ll want to engage in SEO, social media and PPC advertising.
  • Reviews matter: On marketplace websites, your reputation is important. You may have to deal with unfair reviews or compromise on your return policy to protect your seller rating. You may also be at a disadvantage without an established history of positive reviews.
  • Marketplace loyalty: Most customers are loyal to the marketplace rather than to the individual sellers they purchase products from.
  • Harder to market: Marketplaces prefer to keep email addresses and contact information to themselves. This means it’s harder to promote to your customers unless they take some sort of initiative like subscribing to your newsletter or following you on social media.
  • Terms of service: Marketplaces are not obliged to list your items on their site. This means that whatever business you do on a marketplace is subject to their terms and conditions (which can always change).

Etsy Of all the venues to sell private label products online, Etsy caters the most to sellers marketing their own creations. We suggest this marketplace as a good first step to online selling.

Pros:

  • Your own shop: Etsy allows you to have your own “shop”, with all your products in one place. These are the cleanest looking of all the marketplace seller pages by default and lend themselves to sharing with fans and followers.
  • Niche crowd: Etsy’s audience is actively looking to buy customized items from small businesses and entrepreneurs
  • Easy: Etsy is easy to use.

Cons:

  • Imitators: Etsy has a lot of copycats. The best selling items are often imitated (although this is true to some extent for any e-commerce marketplace).
  • Limited branding: Etsy’s store page isn’t very brandable. Although setting up your store is as easy as writing a little about yourself and uploading a header image and avatar, that’s about the extent of how much you can customize it.

eBay Like Etsy, eBay is another venue that is suitable for taking their first dip into e-commerce. eBay caters the most to people selling individual items.

Pros:

  • Good for individual sales: No quantity minimum, you can list one item at a time. Sellers can list up to 50 items a month for free.
  • Bidding system: Putting products up for auction allows them to potentially sell for a higher price (although the reverse is true as well).
  • Easy: Like Etsy, eBay is easy to use.

Cons:

  • Tough customers: Customer support for eBay can be a bit stressful, you may find buyers trying to haggle for a discount after receiving their items.
  • Joy-bidders: Despite the buyer reputation system, it’s possible for an eBay buyer to win a bid on an item but fail to pay.
  • Buyer-sided: eBay is notorious for favoring buyers over sellers in disputes.

Amazon You might not have known this, but about half of the items sold on Amazon.com are sold by third-party sellers, including items eligible for Prime shipping.

Pros:

  • Popular search engine: Amazon is the most commonly used search engine for searches with consumer intent (by people trying to buy stuff). People even use Amazon for price checks when making retail purchases.
  • Easy fulfillment option: Amazon has a program called Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) that takes care of the stress, logistics and liability of getting your products to your customers (for a fee). Additionally, products fulfilled by Amazon are able to be shipped through Amazon Prime, so they get more attention.
  • UPS discount: As an added bonus of using FBA, you can save an incredible amount of money on shipping by using their partnered carrier options. Specifically, by using the deeply-discounted UPS rates.
  • Affiliate program: Amazon has an active referral program, meaning that there is a whole network of people who are incentivized to link to your products on Amazon. Additionally, you can earn a commission for anything someone buys (including from other sellers) when you send people to your own listing with a referral link.

Cons:

  • No email addresses: Amazon does not share customer email addresses. This means you will be unable to promote to your buyers without using Amazon’s message center or shipping items with physical promotional material.
  • Highly competitive: Although all the marketplaces mentioned are highly saturated, Amazon is the most competitive in terms of price. You’ll potentially be competing against established sellers with a huge economic advantage in terms of supply chain and cost (meaning that they can afford to sell at a much lower price).
  • Limited attribution: From one-click shopping to consolidated product pages with a rotating “buy box”, Amazon is designed for buyers to consider purchases to be from Amazon, regardless of if it’s an item listed by a third party.
  • Buyer-sided: Like eBay, Amazon tends to side with the buyer during disputes.

[These pros and cons relate to using Amazon to sell private label (your own brand). Competition for the Amazon “Buy Box” and exclusive distribution agreements are not taken into account.]

Honorable mention - Storenvy

Storenvy is hailed by a lot of webpreneurs as the “new Etsy”.

Storenvy does not charge an upfront listing fee (setting up a Storenvy shop is free). Upon sale, you are charged a credit card processing fee and a 10% commission if the product was found through the Storenvy marketplace. Additionally, you can simply import your listings from Etsy to Storenvy with this tool.

http://ift.tt/2tSjmLn

Creating your own webstore

If you don’t want to limit yourself to selling on a marketplace, another option is opening up your own webstore.

Pros:

  • It’s your own site: You can run your own shop, on your own domain name, and even have a blog. Additionally, having your own site means that you aren’t completely reliant on a marketplace to allow you to list your products.
  • Branding: Because it’s your site, you can have your branding all over it. This means that when people visit the page, they’re visiting your page and possibly becoming loyal to your brand as opposed to just shopping on Etsy, eBay or Amazon.
  • Less terms and conditions: Barring the law and usage terms of your webstore software, you can sell whatever you want however you want. No more worries about restricted brands and products.
  • Email addresses: In addition to being able to generate brand recognition and loyalty, you become the customer’s primary point of contact. This means you get to have their email address.
  • Run your own promotions: Since it’s your own site, you have the option of running any promotions you want

Cons:

  • More setup work: You have to set up your own shop and product pages rather than having to simply create a listing. This can be more difficult, time-consuming and expensive.
  • More logistics involved: On top of having to set up the site, you’ll have to figure out fulfillment and payment processing.
  • More marketing: Unlike with selling on a marketplace, you don’t get the advantage of a default audience. You’ll have to generate all the traffic yourself.

Shopify

Unlike the marketplaces listed above, Shopify is a web store builder and hosting provider. This means that rather than simply listing your items on a site to sell them, you will have to create that site.

The reason Shopify makes the list is because unlike most other e-commerce webstore solutions (like Magento), Shopify takes care of the hosting as well. Additionally, of all the web store platforms, Shopify has the greatest ease of entry with a Lite plan starting at $9 a month.

Pros:

  • App store: Shopify has a whole marketplace of SaaS / ERPs via their app store to help you with product acquisition, e-mail, fulfillment, reviews, SEO, social media, affiliate marketing and more.
  • Payment processing: Shopify not only has integrated payment processing, but works with Stripe and has a point of sale app (you can physically accept credit card payments with your phone).
  • CMS: Shopify is a full content management system (which functions and looks a lot like Wordpress in the back-end side of things).
  • Themes: Shopify has customizable themes (much like Wordpress)

Cons:

  • Base functionality: You will need to install third party apps from Shopify’s app store for certain basic functionalities (like reviews). Fortunately, many of them are free.

Honorable Mention - BigCommerce

Although not as popular as Shopify, BigCommerce has a lot of the same features. Additionally, BigCommerce comes vanilla with a lot of functionality missing from an app-less Shopify. However, due to not being as popular, it doesn’t have as much third party support in terms of themes and marketplace apps. You can find out more about Shopify vs BigCommerce here.

http://ift.tt/2vgLDib

So, what’s the best option?

If you’ve read this far, you’re probably wondering what the best option is.

The best option is to use both marketplaces and a webstore.

That’s right, ideally you should...

(I've cut out the rest of the article since it's no longer a comparison.)

Advice on creating a Dropship\Pass through site entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I have an idea that to bring smaller companies together under one web location. This would be somewhat niche. People that have done this, do you reach out to those companies prior and set up a discounted price? They obviously sell direct, how do you handle this? Is there any money to be made doing this? Do you set up a link that records the traffic you send to their site? This is obviously in the infant stages. I really have a passion for the industry and want to help these smaller companies and make some money if possible. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I have limited web development skills. I have created a few sites with Wordpress and stand alone, but would never call myself a developer. Thank you in advance.

How to close? I paid $10 for a vendor table, had the worst stress headache and discovered I don't know how to close. entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I lost the money, too!

I was rushed that day. None of my books were printing right. I made some printers marks to cut the pages but they were too light to see on the transparencies.

There were other problems. The event was a 'free movie night' and it seemed that everyone brought their own food, drinks, and entertainment and left their wallets at home.

It was 103 degrees at 7 pm and full sunshine.

My headache was the worst. I couldn't believe nobody asked me if I was okay. Earlier that day, I was so busy trying to correct files in photoshop, assemble books, I didn't eat. I was a wreck. And then, the heat and the sun. I was afraid I may pass out at any time.

The upside. I had people talking and handling my product. Kids were asking to have my coloring books. Some of the parents and adults without kids were just happy as anything that they got to visit my table. At least one person said, this is amazing!

But no sales. Every contact ended awkwardly. I even got the ole' "I have to ask my husband." I asked her to bring him over but she never did.

MY wife was saying my pitch was disjointed. Either I demonstrate or I sell, not both. I agree with that.

How do I close? I have two events that are very targeted for my books.

Please fill in what I'm missing. "so you decided to go with number 1, that's my favorite." "May I ring you up?" "Awesome! Are you ready to take that one?" "I'll take the next customer." "Do you need help deciding?" "My name is, just ask me for help when you're ready." "Can I wrap that up for you?" "Would you like to buy a bag for $.10?" (that's a new one in California)

COINLESS breaks the paradigm of the “Great Bubble Pop”, being the only currency capable of overcoming the limitations and obstacles of the scheme, because it doesn’t belong to a regulated economic system, bringing security and stability to all those who understand the project of the founding fathers, three great economists that besides their contradictions, always really wanted to bring economic freedom to the people. The values of the brand and the team are explicit. Our users will have an exchange currency which will always have the same inverted value, and will be able to generate revenue, even though this will be directly linked to the participation of people for such growth. Our objective as a brand is to present a cryptocoin with free convertibility, allowing investors to participate of this concept.

After a milliard of theoretical discussions, trying to understand what model could better help the people, our founders got together to create a Master Theory to prevent the so-called explosion of the bubble.

Karl Marx: Tired of being confused with a money hater, Marx helped develop Coinless on the base of a decentralized organized community owning their own means of production, as a revolutionary idea. “A ghost is haunting the internet, the ghost of Coinless”.

Milton Friedman: Milton loves money. For this reason he helped conceptualizing Coinless, pseudo-money with no sense and no controls. “The one thing that’s missing, but that will soon be developed, is an unreliable e-cash, a method whereby on the Internet you can transfer funds from A to B , without A knowing B or B knowing A, without reason at all, to do nothing with it”.

Adam Smith: He knows a lot about money, banks and debts, but it is the love for dutch tulips that makes him the most tasteful of founders any currency could have. “Whoever derives his revenue from a fund which is his own, must draw it either from luck, or from Coinless, this is the way it is meant to be”.

We invite you to invest in this nonsense investment by our website: coinless.io Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM4ht_75Ji0

Ways to monetize amateur programming skills? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I'm a student working "part-time" (full time hours but part timer pay)at a warehouse. It's night shift and digs a lot into my school work and social life. Im top 25% of my classes so I have a decent handle on what I'm doing, but I'm hoping to turn my basic but growing knowledge into something that can be a decent part time job.

I can do the standard HTMl/CSS but there is just so much competition I don't feel I have any way to really stand out.

What's your strategy for getting reviews for your Amazon FBA products? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

What's your strategy on getting reviews for your FBA products?

I have sold just about 500 units of a product on Amazon, but have only received a couple of reviews during that time.

I've tried using JumpSend to send automated review emails to my buyers after they purchase my product. I have it send out three emails per customer (a thank you email, a review request a few days after they receive the product, and another review request a week later). However, I've noticed that about 90% of my customers have opted out of receiving messages, as I frequently get this message:

  • We were unable to deliver the message you sent for order [XXXXX] because the buyer has chosen to opt out of receiving unsolicited messages from sellers.

At the same time, I only received my reviews after starting to use JumpSend, so I guess it still makes a marginal difference.

Lastly, I've seen some sellers who I've purchases products from include a feedback card in their packages asking for reviews. Has anyone tried this with any success? What's Amazon's policy on this?

Please share your strategies as I'm at a loss on how to go about getting reviews here. Thank you!

Launching a one-product site - feedback requested entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

In the summer of 2015 my son was invited to a Knights themed birthday party. The host parents had ordered cardboard helmets, a castle-themed cake, and these flimsy floppy swords. All of the kids were running around playing knights, but their swords were flopping around like wet noodles.

I could tell the kids were getting frustrated and by the time the cake was served all of the swords were ruined. That afternoon I started work on the first version of a SwordPlay sword. It was crude and ugly, but it worked, and it lasted for more than 20 minutes.

After positive feedback from neighbours and friends (an admittedly biased sample) I've recently decided to try selling online. I would appreciate critique and feedback on how to improve my site here: http://ift.tt/2tXLvVh

Thanks!

Finding a partner or outsourcing prospecting? Advice wanted entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

Hello,

I am in senior management in digital marketing at a major tech company. My team covers things from SEO, email marketing, social media marketing, etc. on the side, I have run a couple of big contracts in the past with the likes of Cisco and HP and have also freelanced with smaller companies. Quite frankly - I hate coming into an office. I hate having ideas suppressed. I hate seeing the fruit of my labor going to other people.

I want to dive full time into my agency where I have been contacting - www.vervemk.com. The problem? Prospecting time. I currently work about 50 hours a week, have two small kids, and a young family. I am 24, so still fully capable of the grind.

Before switching to agency life full time, I need to get to a place where I can come close to making a lateral financial shift. I am currently making about 165K/annual. I figure if I can build enough consistent clientele of 100K, I can move away from corporate.

From a new business acquisition stand point, I have a fairly large network and have gotten a lot of word of mouth contracts in the freelance world. I want to go about more and consistent business. I could tackle this a couple of ways.

  1. Leverage marketing automation knowledge - I could come up with some prospecting email scripts and look at the consistent engagement of leads who are consuming my content and target them.
  2. Find a partner - this is what I am leaning towards. I would love another person with ambition who can talk the talk to sell this stuff. I am fully capable of running the actual work load for now, but the prospecting time is another story.

What would your recommendation be on outsourcing prospecting OR pulling in a partner focused on business development?

Thanks

How many collections/products to introduce? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

Hello, we are partnering with a new designer for our ecommerce lingerie boutique, and they have six collections! (About 4-6 items per collection.) How many should we introduce when introducing this designer? All six collections, or do 3 now and 3 later in the year (or some other combination thereof)?

How I Built This podcast entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I've been listening to How I Built This from NPR and I love it. The biggest takeaway for me so far is realizing two things:

  • Every single successful entrepreneur had people telling them to quit, often with truly valid reasons.
  • They all showed incredible perseverance through frustrating setbacks.

Highly recommended and just came here to share.

Sharing my 7 figure sales pitch framework including the psychology behind it. entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

It's my job to figure out what stands between my client's products and money. In 11 years I've found out that it's consistently this---does the offer say what the prospect needs to hear in order for him to make a purchase?

Ask yourself this same question. Without selling anything here I'm going to break down the structure of a sales pitch that i've converted into a letter, webinar, sales page and even email sequence.

The medium isn't what's important, its the psychology behind it.

Here's the letter and below I'll share the framework. Bear in mind that I have used this to offer $100k team training, $250k +10% royalty consulting and even a $10 ebook.

Sales pitch: "Chris’ case was pretty pathetic.

Like most entrepreneurs, his primary goal was to build a business that would give him freedom, wealth, control and respect.

While those at the top were getting the fame, buying new homes, taking their families on lavish vacations and basking in the respect of their peers–Chris had only found stress, overwhelm and uncertainty.

As the weeks and months went by, he watched as others seem to get easily what’s he’d been spinning his wheels trying to grasp for so long.

Do you know what it’s like to work hard but your business not growing as fast as you want? Others may not know but you, yourself know deep down that you can do better.

That’s the insidious thing about relying on common-sense to grow a business.

Common-sense will get you common results but wisdom is the elevator the best entrepreneurs ride to the top.

Removing as much uncertainty as possible is how the best get better.

Sometimes of course there are things you can’t control and resources you wish you had.

But usually its because you don’t know how to find and attract a constant stream of paying customers.

It may be that your business strategy isn’t focused on the activities that will bring the biggest results in a short time.

Often those who aren’t the market leaders lack proven business growth systems like high converting sales pages, back end sequences or cash generating campaigns.

Its an interesting thing that there is a little known path that the ambitious entrepreneurs have taken to get from where they are to where they want to be.

Tech startup founders, online business owners and million dollar internet marketers follow these secrets.

  1. Attract highly qualified leads.(Their focus is on the quality not just the number of leads.)

  2. Know what to say to turn that lead into a paying customer.

  3. Set up marketing funnels and sales sequences to make money not just with the first transaction but also three, four and sometimes multiple times later.

  4. Deploy behavior based campaigns that increase customer lifetime value, reactivate old customers and attract joint ventures with potential partners.

That’s it. I just gave you the playbook.

Your success has more to do with how you think than what you sell.

Your business will not grow bigger than your mind.

Would you like me to help you personally double or even triple your business and impact without stress and overwhelm?

At any given point in time I’m working with 7 to 8 figure consultants, online business owners and professional services to grow faster, sustainable, cash generating businesses online.

Before you apply here are my rates,

Before you apply, here is what I can do for you.

Setting up your marketing funnels, campaigns and sales sequences is $250,000 And 10% Of Gross Sales Of That Funnel and Campaign. Training your team for one or two days max is $100,000 in Silicon Valley or $250,000 On Location Speak at event is $70,000 Or 50% Of Back Of Room Sales (Whichever Is Higher) 1 hour strategy session or pick-my-brain conversation $5000 Please not that I charge premium rates so the these opportunities are not for beginners.

To apply, email my office at xxxxx

Regards.

p.s Time and availability are factors so act quickly.

I can only take on with a limited number of people due to the personal one on one nature of my work. Thank you for understanding."

  1. Start with a story that your audience can empathize or connect with. If speaking to engineers, you can talk about how sometimes a missing semi-colon can keep you up all night and make you rewrite code that you shouldn't.(I've been there. lol)

  2. Talk about their biggest desires or the biggest pain they would like to remove. For my audience, they really hate to be working so hard and stuck at the same place even though they know they have a good product/service. They really hate that others keep passing them by even though they know more.

  3. Offer solutions that they can use immediately. In my case I share the 4 steps that have worked for me and other consultants and professional services providers.

  4. Add social proof either by showing testimonials or some metrics about the kind of clients you have worked with.

  5. Show proof if you can but if you have no proof you can show, then use a demo of your product.

  6. Use urgency and scarcity if you can. These two psychological triggers can make you a lot of money because for some reason humans are susceptible to them fairly easily.

That's it.

You can use this in a face to face pitch, video ad, webinar, ebook or sales page. I try not to mention my business on Reddit so it's more for the education than the selling.

Any questions?
