Most of the links on their homepage (to product features etc) use HTML tags.
However, a lot of others, including their links to "affiliate" websites (other [mostly small] firms who help you get set up with their service) use Javascript. Meaning, you see "javascript:void(0);" when you hover the link, and it doesn't show up in the source code. On the whole, there are basically zero outbound links on the site, except on well-hidden blog pages. They have big social media accounts but don't link to them anywhere.

Is there any SEO benefit to this - are they trying to avoid having too many outbound links to low-DA sites? Or is it just a part of how their developers happened to set up the site?

I understand that Google will look at these JS links (because they open a new page). Would they be considered to be the rough equivalent of a followed, or a no-followed link?
nb: it's a fairly large company so I'm under the impression that there must be some sort of reason they're doing this.
