Non www property previously indexed causing loss in ranking? earn by blogging adsense income

So the series of events which has lead me to this:

  1. Website relaunch
  2. Website indexed as non www property
  3. Decide a ~week later on www property instead
  4. Change all properties to prioritize as www.
  5. Index status shows 2400 submitted links with only 1100 indexed. This has been increasing incredibly slowly by only about 25 pages a week.
  6. A sitemap audit revealed 900 orphan links, when googling the SKU's of some of the urls they're still indexed as non www, after 3 months.

Is this normal after so long or am I doing something wrong? Having a lot of pages indexed as non www is treating my site as two separate entities and there's been a very painful drop in traffic.

As a side note, on the new GSC valid urls are increasing ever so slowly, I have 1.37k valid urls and 5.38k excluded. 3700 of these are soft 404s, of which I was only able to 301 1000 of them due to the cap. A lot of these are just parameters such sortby= lowestprice= etc

Any help is appreciated. I'm almost at the point of seeking professional help so if you recommend that too let me know.

Thanks in advance
