Shopify Redesign - Will Rankings Drop? earn by blogging adsense income

We have an e-commerce site on Shopify with a huge number of products and it ranks for some very high (500k-1M) volume KWs in the top 1-5.

However, the website was hastily created by me back in the day when I was just starting out. It could be much faster/lighter and well organized (better-written code and scripts).

So, I am thinking of doing a redesign - the look and info organization will remain mostly the same.

Will this redesign result in drop in rankings? If so, what precautions should I take?
