Hi guys. I have owned and operated a small business online for 7 years. I've never paid for SEO services and have obtained a good steady growth over the years through writing great content and optimizing the site myself. On August 1st (when the last google update happened) I noticed a quick drop in traffic. I had not heard of negative SEO attacks before this so it took me about 28 days to figure out what happened. It appears the attacks started rolling in around April or May of 2018. The anchor text on the site makes no sense. For instance, there is a "." as one of our top anchor texts. I found hundreds of spammy links. We sell night guards and mouth guards online and a lot of the links were dental office websites. When I clicked on the website page(s) I was taken to a 404 error page most often or a spammy front page that I could tell was not a legitimate website. Additionally, I entered these sites into Ahrefs and discovered that they all had either extremely low to no trust value. On top of the fake dental office sites linking to us, there are pharmaceutical sites and pornography sites. I collected a list of the bad links and submitted to google disavow tool. It's been 21 days now and I have seen no change. We have employees and things are getting scary. We are continuing to drop every day in organic rankings. I'm hoping someone can provide some insight or experience. Is the disavow tool guaranteed to work? What if they got into the site internally somehow too? I've gone from uninformed to ultra paranoid. Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Ashely
