Buying expired domain on high DA/relevant site earn by blogging adsense income

I inquired about getting a backlink on a high DA website in my industry last year which charges hundreds per month just to get a listing on their site.

I recently found an expired domain on their site.

If i buy the domain and 301 redirect it to my site would it provide the same SEO value as it was a backlink on their site and will this method carry SEO value?
