So I am currently setting up an affiliate site that compiles lists of items. For each item I have a short description of around 20-100 words. Right now I am pulling the descriptions from different apis, but I am wondering whether it would be worth writing them myself.
However, because each page might have 50 descriptions, it seems like having duplicate content would be less of an issue since no other page is going to have the exact same content.
My understanding is that duplicate content would mainly be an issue if you copy a Wikipedia page then google is just going to send people to Wikipedia over your website. However, if someone types in "Best [Something Pretty Niche]" and you have a lot of product descriptions (that aren't already aggregated in some other place), the fact that it's mostly duplicate content would be less of an issue.
Am thinking about this correctly?
