I wrote a Medium post on how I successfully branded my new startup as a solo founder who has an engineering background. It's on Medium here: https://medium.com/@chris_8388/how-i-successfully-branded-my-startup-as-a-technical-solo-founder-2ce9aa7de77d
I've found this huge disconnect between graphic designers (on /r/graphic_design and elsewhere) and entrepreneurs (here on /r/Entrepreneur and also elsewhere). I think I've figured out a pretty good way to bridge the gap as an early stage startup.
I used (and am using) 99designs, but I'm doing so in a way that really values and appreciates the designers. I started my software career in the same way and I think it's important to give designers the same shot I got.
I've been a software engineer for a long time and worked on front-end / mobile applications (and directly with amazing designers), so I think I'm qualified to talk about this .... I've started a couple of companies with one of my best friends who's one of the best designers in the world.
