Not sure what to expect from SEO/PPC management companies. earn by blogging adsense income

I'm a small business owner, we have everything ready to go - now we just need leads. We have a website up, and are looking to generate leads preferably through google. I've reached out to a couple PPC/SEO management businesses. The most recent one let me know that they will only be able to offer a 90 day commitment.

Is it unheard of to do a test run as a new business for maybe a week long marketing campaign in order to evaluate their services and get our feet wet? Any other advice?
