E-commerce SEO: product page URLs in different browsing paths earn by blogging adsense income

Should you exclusively use the canonical URL for a product page, no matter if coming from a path like brands/products (like nike/airmax) or from a path like categories/products (like sneakers/airmax).

Currently my URLs are different for category path but do contain the canonical URL in the code. I think this is wasting crawl budget... what do you think?
