The TL:DR I want to make an app that helps people achieve their goals and connect businesses to people.
The pitch: I've seen the current generation (yep, that's me) struggle through life with lofty goals of fitness, fame, or fortune, with no road map for success. I think the problem is lack of motivation. In 2018 motivation is defined differently than it was back in the day of our parents and grandparents.
The problem I'm trying to solve: Everyone wants to be the king of the mountain, yet no one wants to climb.
How to fix this?: I'm envisioning an app to incentivize and motivate. A free app with ad revenue is the first model. You can create custom goals (almost like a to-do list) and it's mostly targeted to teens and young adults. Fancy graphics, animations and basic rewards (coins or something in the app, who knows, maybe even some altcoin...) Essentially dopamine response to doing a good job and seeing something from it. Almost like a game, but the game of life! Reasons why I like the Google Local Guides app which is apart of maps, it's fun to see how far I can get by giving reviews and whatnot. There's no monetary gain, but I like seeing what level I can get to. Plenty of other apps out there that operate like this.
The second model is one that my friend doesn't have much faith in. A premium subscription where you work with a curator and work towards a true goal with a true reward. Let's say you want to lose 20lbs. The app integrates with other fitness apps and devices to measure progress. You have a curator (or a mix of a human and machine learning to cut down costs) on the other end to help and motivate you. The end result is (as an example) a small getaway to a resort, at 30% off. The app partners with bigger and/or local small business to give incentives for a job well done essentially. This connects businesses to people and gives them an idea of what people want, something that is paramount to business success these days.
I've code named it the "Incentivizer" app, and it needs a better name (or just needs to be bought out by Groupon or Google ;) ).
I need some feedback on this though, as I don't know what people look for in apps these days, or what's better in terms of ad-revenue and clicks vs. a premium subscription model offer.
My theoretical target age and demographic is men and woman between 13-24 and parents of younger kids that need help with chores/rewards.
Thoughts? Light me up...I'm not afraid and welcome any criticism.
