Cost of a Link to DR ratio? earn by blogging adsense income

What is the general opinion of how much you are willing to spend on a link (directly or indirectly) to receive a dofollow link.

For example, I am a local services company and there is a radio station with a DR of 79 that gives a link to any and all supporters who spend $500 or more - one-time on radio ads.

As a local guy I know that local and industry are important, and while this would be over state lines, but we are small states in NE here.

Whats the general consensus on how much you are willing to invest in a link?
