Can a .tech domain rank as well as the .com one? earn by blogging adsense income

I'm torn apart between going with a .tech or .com for my new project. I want it to show up on rank 1 eventually so I want to be sure that it has the same chance as a .com domain before I buy it.

What scares me the most about .tech is that I've never seen a website on page 1 results that has the .tech extension but I guess that may be because it's relatively new.
