I'm part of a business networking group, if we all give each other backlinks to each other's websites, will that help? earn by blogging adsense income

I'm part of a business networking group (it's actually kinda cool, we just have breakfast once a week at a pretty good local diner, and we are encouraged to give each other business and help each other find business...it's called letip if you are wondering - www.letip.com...they have local chapters all across the usa) with about 20 members who own (or work at) other small local businesses.

If we all give each other backlinks to each other's websites, will this help?

Or, would some other type of strategy be better? Like, we each give backlinks to 2 other members of the group?
