Best way to prevent crawlers from following links? earn by blogging adsense income

What would be the best way to prevent search engine and other bots from following internal links within my site?

Just to clarify: I am not asking of how to ask crawlers not to follow links with "nofollow" because many crawlers do not respect that. I also do not want to block search engine bots completely. If they come to any page within my site by following an external link, that is more than fine.

Would creating the links with javascript be effective in hiding those links from the crawlers, or most bots run javascript these days?
