How important is SEO for pages not showing up in search results? earn by blogging adsense income

I've got my Yoast plugin set to not show any posts in search results. I guess my first question should be: is this a good or bad idea?

Secondly, if I do keep them set to not be shown, is it important to go through all the SEO things like keyword, links, and readability? Most of my posts are podcast episodes, and little personal blog posts.

I am super amateur at all this, but I'm looking to learn more about SEO in general.
