A few years ago, I started a WordPress.com website to do some light blogging about technology. After a while I got into Joomla and tried to turn my blog into a "Joomla" blog. I even bought a domain with the keyword Joomla in it.
I never really fully committed, however, and started writing about general technology topics. After a while those "other" topics turned out to be far more popular than the joomla posts.
This difference has only grown over time. Response to Joomla content is almost non-existant while I am still getting a lot of traffic for other blog posts, despite not having updated the blog in a while.
I want to go back to tech blogging and I am wondering about whether I should change my domain name again. The domain name itself doesn't seem to stop people from reading the posts on other topics, but I wonder if SEO wise it would be interesting to switch domains or if it would be better to just stick with the current domain despite the Joomla keyword and not really having an intention to work on the Joomla side of things.
TL;DR Change domain name because it contains a niche keyword which I don't plan to cover with new content?
