My business is putting coin operated arcade machines in local businesses. I split the profits with the location.

I got a call today from a kava bar that I put a machine in last month. He told me he wanted more machines because he has an almost constant line for the arcade, people are staying longer to play the arcade, and he has to stock an extra $30 worth of quarters just for the arcade machine.

This is great news, because I'm expecting a machine I paid $900 for to gross $1000 the first month.

The bad news is he was asking about the "multicades in other kava bars".

I've been in the vending community for a LONG time. Nobody, and I mean nobody runs multicades anymore unless it's part of a larger arcade (20+ machines). It was my idea to figure out how I can resurrect them.

Part of me feels like either my sales guy screwed me or kava bars are putting them in themselves.

The thing that leads me to believe the Kava bars might be putting them in themselves is that they asked me if I could provide one with their company logo on it "like the one in the other kava bar".

I don't know if it's common sense or industry know how to never put the companies name on your machine, and I'd like opinions on that. The reason you never do that is if the location kicks you out, you can't place the machine anywhere else. My gut tells me that that particular kava bar bought their own machine, which wouldn't be a problem for me.

On the flip side, my sales guy asked for equity in the company and talked about buying machines as equity. He also knows who my supplier is and I know that my supplier does custom graphics if asked.

So to sum up my problem, there's a strong possibility my sales guy figured out proof of concept on my dime and then went right ahead and decided to compete with me.

I'm like 20% sure this is what happened. There's an even stronger possibility that the kava bars are just copying what works from each other. My multicade is making that business extra money in an extremely obvious way.
