I know some of these questions may be a bit silly, but please bare with me. So I currently work in public relations, which I feel may have some useful cross over for if I ever take the plunge.
I have been speaking to friends and colleagues who happen to be vegan and they constantly talk about a product that they struggle to find in the UK, but would love. The product itself is a drink, which they miss from their non-vegan days.
Now I understand that drinks have their own issues relating to health and safety etc, but I'm just at the starting point at the minute. I'm a man with an idea.
So my questions are mainly along the lines of:
- How much research do you do before you put together a business plan?
- Would you recommend trying to make the product at home just to make sure it tastes nice using products that I can buy in a local supermarket? I obviously wouldn't sell these products, this would mainly be taste testing.
- Do you have any recommendations for starting up a drinks brand in general?
- What is the typical process for a drinks start-up from idea to on the shelves? Is it: test recipes - produce drinks either in house or use contract manufacturer - sell at trade shows - build links with supermarkets - stock with supermarkets?
I'm looking for some general and some advice that is a bit more specific. All help would be appreciated.
