Hi all, I lurk this sub a lot, but this is my first time posting so please forgive me if questions like this are against the rules.
I recently got brought on as a digital marketer for a small business and I'm new-ish to the SEO world. (I was hired for graphic design, web dev, social media, and content writing, not SEO persay) so I am learning the other skills as I go.
A lot of the company's on-page SEO and blog content was set up by the SEO specialist before me. I have just been adding new content and targeting customers in our city. We're still ranking #1 on Google for our keywords and getting 1k+ traffic a month.
I've been writing lengthier blog posts with relevant content (1500 words+) whereas the last guy had 80+ articles written between 300 words to 500 words in length. I read online that it wasn't "worth" re-writing or editing the old content, seeing as we're still ranking #1 for our keywords and outperforming our competitors.
The problem: I have been using SEMRush. I checked just now, and saw we've lost a lot of keywords in the last two weeks. I haven't made any edits to the site, deleted or altered any pages, or changed anything other than minifying our CSS/JavaScript to improve our site speed.
Scouring online for news about Google algorithm updates only show the ones I was aware of - the one from March and June.
Is there anything I'm not aware of in terms of Google algorithm updates (which I think is the case) or should I not worry about the drop in keywords? I know it's hard to say or give advice based on general info like this, but any insights would be really appreciated.
Thank you kindly!
