For the past year I have spent tons of money hiring company after company and freelancer after freelancer to help me with my SEO needs. Needless to say, I have seen zero productive results from either.
Here has been my experience:
Local Company 1- Helped me rank for about 5 keywords no one in their right mind searches for. When I asked what to do with this, he had no answers.
Local Company 2- Got me to pay for PR articles so we could make use of the efforts of the previous company. Well you see my trend.
Big fails plus two more fails with freelancers. For the past month or so, I've stopped all efforts. I learnt that I need to educate myself before hiring the next person but I have no admit, there seems to be no end to this but I'm getting there.
Here's what I've learned so far:
-
I've been reading on another thread today- Hire a specialist even before putting in efforts into redesigning websites. That's definitely not something I'd considered before. Tons of money spent on redesigning and I assume I have to look for "seo specialist" that will probably tell me to redesign again.
-
I've learned how spot baity articles and how to not learn from articles that are packed with ads. Turns out that's very very difficult. Everything I read now is clearly a pitch for another product. Holy!
-
I've learned that long tail keywords are the gold.
-
I've learned about Skyscrapper technique.
Throw me words that I can google up and learn more.
Thanks r/seo!
