I would love to hear any of your stories, I am sure some of you are thinking of doing this, have done this a long time ago, or are in the middle of doing so! I recommend it, I feel not one shred of regret. I actually feel safer knowing I can go out there and find clients, cold call, than I do with a paycheck from some large company where I don't matter. They say entrepreneurship is a risk but I think working a 9-5 that doesn't value you is a huger risk.
Wow I feel such a weird mix of emotions right now, but all positive. I feel super relieved, happy, carefree, and optimistic. Not one shred of doubt or anxiety since I know I have in demand skills. Plus I got a good amount of food in the fridge to last ;)
My plan is to pickup freelance writing work, video work, content for business owners, while building the business and putting more effort into my art. I have learned that plans change often but I feel very strongly about the plan going forward. I was thinking of starting a blog or youtube series tonight to document the next 3 months. Regardless of what happens the next few months I feel It would still be an interesting journey to share with others, let me know if you'd read something like that!
just a little background on my self I was born in New York, now live in Jersey. I have worked in construction sales and marketing for 5 years, since I was 18 years old. When I was 19, I decided to drop out of college to work full time and grow a business on the side. That went fairly well and I made a good deal of income compared to most 19-20 year olds. This job underpays their employees and although it taught me alot and was a good experience, it is still a job, and the job now has nothing to do with my passions.
I enjoy helping business owners grow and I enjoy when art/creativity meets business. I love all forms of art and I mainly enjoy writing, videography/photography, music, and digital art/graphic design.
Im super pumped to have finally made this leap and it feels good to be a full time entrepreneur! I plan to write about this a lot and probably document the journey of some sorts.
I was going to save up some more money before I left my job but after recent events and yet another argument with my "superior" I quit today.
With that said, if anyone has any similar stories or recently was in the same situation I'd love to hear! PS if any reddit-ers want to support me and have a need for content, il do some writing or video work for dirt cheap due to my circumstances -_-
