Is special industry-specific domain name extensions such as .clothing a bad idea? earn by blogging adsense income

I'm helping a new upstart getting their site online, and their brand name is a simple combination of three letters. Let's say these letters are YOY.

yoy.com is already taken, as well as other typical high-quality extensions - but yoy.clothing is available (they're selling clothing). Is there a good reason to avoid this and similar industry-specific extensions SEO-wise?
