How I came up with my business Idea entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I invented a service called DroneQuote that helps homeowners install a solar system on their roof without sitting through lengthy and pushy sales pitches, avoid anyone walking the customer's roof to take measurements, and offers extremely competitive pricing with never-before-seen accuracy.

It all started in 2013 when I got a job selling solar to homeowners in their home. I would get a lead, I'd call them to set the appointment, then I'd show up at the house and gather roof measurements and other site details to accurately write up my pricing, then I'd go into the home to pitch the homeowner and try to close the deal...usually over the span of an hour and a half. If the close didn't take place then I'd get to work on diligent follow up via email and calls. In 2014 I purchased a drone because I hated getting on roofs. I mastered some CAD software and other tools to make use of the imagery. Over the course of the next three years I field tested/perfected what would turn into DroneQuote and also realized that I was selling a lot more solar, was turning projects a lot quicker because I was saving the solar company I worked for time on roof surveys, and was earning more on commissions because I wasn't missing any details on the roof which allowed me to quote more accurately and with higher margins. At the same time, something very impactful kept happening with some of my client base; the very wealthy clients I had all kept telling me the same thing. You see, whenever I had a well-to-do client, selling solar was the last thing on my mind. My objective was to ask as many questions as possible regarding their success and if they were willing to share any keys with me. 9/10 of these people told me they were business owners.

You see, it wasn't an "Ah-ha!" moment that I used to look for which led me down this path, but rather a series of unfolding events that all led to one another, in combination with the positions in which I would consistently put myself in. The point here is to not sweat the "right business idea" as much as it is to be cognizant of what you want to accomplish (entrepreneurship) and always working towards that goal, or at the very least failing forward. I went through two previous "businesses" where I did what I could to come up with the "right idea"...it all finally came together organically.
