Email credibility when doing backlink outreach earn by blogging adsense income

I’m finally in a position to do a little backlink outreach (mostly done just technical SEO up to this point) for a freelance client.

The client has been mentioned in a blog post by a fashion magazine, but the link points to the client’s homepage rather than to the specific product mentioned in the post, so I’d like to reach out and ask them to update their link to be more specific.

My question is, to appear credible to the magazine, should I try and get the client to give me an email address at their domain before I reach out? The gmail I use for work is decent, it’s not some silly name6969@gmail kinda address, but I still get concerned that I’ll be ignored for seeming too spammy.
