I'm still learning the ropes here. I use Yoast to auto generate sitemaps and recently I've installed a new theme that uses a visual page builder (WPBakery). Because of that, Yoast can't pick up the images now (the visual page builder uses short codes to embed images). So now my sitemap shows 0 images for any new posts I publish even though there are images on those posts.
Given the circumstances of my site now, I want to ask all you experts how important are images in sitemaps? I don't necessarily need Google to index my images, but maybe content without any images in sitemaps might take a hit on SEO rankings?
I know that I can use service like http://image-sitemap.net to generate a image only sitemap, but thats not something I see on Yoast generated sitemaps. Yoast sitemaps are URLs, Number of Images, and Last Modified. Images are linked with posts in Yoast.
