It's been a pretty fun couple months, I'm at the point now where I'm on a first name basis with employees at the post office. I decided on sticking with Canada Post to deliver my items as the threshold to get further discounts on shipping starts at $2500 per year. I'm currently sitting at about $800 spent on shipping with Canada post so woot $1700 more before I level up and get additional savings. Based on my volume (fingers crossed) i'll reach the max savings by this time next year.
I now have over 350 items listed, I saw sales increase the more products I added. I also have more competition, I started and it was me and 2 other sellers now it's like 5 or 6 other sellers and man does it suck. Sucks mostly because these guys came in and drastically lowered the price on items so much so I had to contact the manufacturer and ask how these sellers were selling these products so cheap?! I've been asked to flag items and sellers so that they can be contacted via the legal team.
A-Z guarantee - I got 2 complaints (1 was resolved as I went out of pocket to resolve) the other was a total scam (I realize customer basically used the system to say they didn't get their item and was able to get the item and get money back) There's dishonest people out there and they will legit scam you if they can.
SAVINGS!! I finally bought a box of 500 kraft envelopes now so my shipping costs have went down about .8 cents per package, I also started printing my Amazon orders from work when I can to save on ink at home.
You win some and lose some. During this whole journey I've lost out on some orders as the shipping costs were way over what I anticipated it's only happened twice where I lost money on a sale. Not much (30 cents and like 2 bucks) but still.
Sponsored products. I took your advice and used my $50 credit and used it on some products. I got about $300 in sales from it. So next month i'll be increasing my daily spend (bump it from $1 a day to $2 a day and apply it to products where I make the most money.
Overall lesson learned. Keep organized, keep on top of inventory and as 1 person mentioned talk about Amazon to those that are qualified to give you advise. Now when people ask me all I say is "It's going well" and basically leave it at that. I don't need negativity. In my next update I plan to send some items to FBA so hopefully I have some good results to share.
Here's the link to how I did from my last post until now. I averaged it out to where I make about 25% of my sales.
Keep hustlin, work hard and good things will come.
