Hello, I have spent many months making a prototype site called https://bimberoo.com. I have had to learn a lot of WebDev stuff fairly quickly to build the prototype.
I wanted to create a place where people can share narrated videos of places so tourists can quickly watch videos of places near to them. These videos can either be created by the user and uploaded to the site or alternatively the user can choose an existing YouTube video instead. I want tourists to get a good idea of what a place is like in 1-2 minutes and without having to read pages of text in magazines, tour guides or browsing through comments on trip adviser.
I have done a lot of travelling and finding somewhere to visit that is close, interesting to me and is actually worthwhile spending my precious time visiting is surprisingly difficult.
I thought a map based video site where one can see short videos of interesting places nearby would be very popular with tourists and with locals promoting their area.
The problem is, all the feedback I have had is rather... meh. Most say they would continue to use Youtube, Google Maps, Trip Adviser, Local tour guides, hotel staff, brochures etc instead. The person who I started this project with has gone AWOL following the poor feedback.
So I am at the very bottom. I'm not sure if I should try and salvage something from it...? maybe try and apply it to something else...? Or do I just admit defeat and give up?
Please help me wise ones.
