When it comes to outsourcing the market is stacked with VAs. For example, ff you go onto upwork and put up an ad for "VAs to help build ideal customer list" you are going to get 100+ proposals in 24 hours. 95% are copy paste proposals from bullshit VAs who will add less value than the $10 a hour you will pay them.

Now a good VA is worth their weight in gold and I want to share the number one trick which has given me a 100% success rate in hiring great VAs and developers.

I learnt it from Chad Mureta of App Empire (https://appempire.com/) so all the credit goes to him.

It is called the Honey Badger Trick and it is very simple.

First make sure you have a long brief, even if it is something as simple as building an ideal customer list really articulate it out. The purpose here isn't just to have a clear brief so only the people who know how to do it will apply. It is to make sure that they have to scroll below the fold.

Second step is to copy paste this statement at the end "IMPORTANT- start your proposal with the words "Honey Badger" so that I know you have fully read my brief."

Now of the 100 proposals you are going to get 95 will start with "Dear Sir" which you can throw out immediately, even if they have great references and a good price. Fuck them they didn't read your brief all the way to the end and can't follow the first step.

The other 5 which start with the word "Honey Badger", you can then follow up with them. If it is a low key job you can give a trial run to the best priced with most good references and if it is a big job then get them on a skype call (not a chat) and go with your gut.

TLDR - A good VA is awesome, at the end of the brief tell them to start their proposal with honey badger. The ones who didn't follow that simple instruction aren't worth your time.
