Hello /r/Entrepreneur,
I am in the process of creating an app business. I have a few ideas for apps we would like to create, but we are only focusing on one venture at this time. However, I want to structure the business correctly to have one business be the umbrella, and each "app venture" to be it's own business underneath the umbrella. This would allow future teams to be separated, and have each app be a business in itself.
Basic info:
- Myself and my primary business partner intend to work on and own any sub-projects underneath the umbrella
- I would like to structure my first app as a C-Corp to allow venture capitalists to invest in the company
- I have not incorporated anything yet, but plan on doing so soon
- I don't want the original founders of the first app to be involved in the second project later
My Idea:
- My Primary business Partner and I will form an LLC for us only, which will own stock in each C-Corp we create underneath the LLC Umbrella
- Form the C-Corp, and have the LLC own stock proportionate to what we would expect to receive as individual founders
- Have the LLC own stock in our future ventures using the same process
Is this correct, or am I wrong here? Thanks guys!
