TL;DR Is it worthwhile for a small, successful business to improve its page ranking?
Hi all. This post isn't meant to antagonize--I just couldn't figure out a good title for it.
I work for a small, reasonably successful, business. We have a simple, Weebly-built website that I think is OK in terms of aesthetics and content.1 But our page rankings could be improved--we are not on the front the page of several relevant keyword searches. I know that page ranking can be improved via SEO. But how can I (and more importantly, the owner) be convinced that this would be worthwhile--especially financially? It's all well and good to say "SEO will improve your business," and it is indeed obvious that moving to the front page of search results can only help. But are there ways to better quantify things up-front, before any SEO work has started, in an effort to put it in terms that will resonate with the owner?
The question I am inclined to ask--and one my owner will definitely ask--is, "We're doing just fine without it--why start now?" It seems like a valid question on the surface, but I'm also not an SEO expert.
Thanks in advance.
1 It could use some minor upgrades.
