Question: Does kickstarter for entrepreneurs exist?
Example: A group of investors crowdfunded or accredited invest in the entrepreneur in exchange for a x% of anything made from his/her ventures until 2x etc. is paid back. Not an idea/business the actual entrepreneur.
Benefit here is the ability to kickstart the entrepreneurs journey and the opportunity to get in when he/she is starting out, leaving the option open to invest in his/her companies. ( build the relationship early ) Entrepreneur potentially gets capital needed to grow.
Brief
- Built side project that sold $38.2k in memberships over past 60 days. Paypal throttles % of sales we can actually use because we are new business.
- The project I mentioned above is a short term solution to solve my need ( now need to solve part b of money goal to build/grow projects ). Considering loan to advertise/market the "mildly successful" business and move on to my actual plans ( everything is automated for this service ).
- Service operates in gray area, definitely not a long term business venture. I am not claiming/looking for an investment in the business, just listed to show I am not an idiot looking for free money and that I have some experience growing/scaling/managing a what I consider "semi-successful" business. It didn't completely hit my milestones due to restrictions I could not control/see ( paypal ) but it is still decent for a 2 month project.
- After expenses and small pay from what is accessible I have enough saved to cover necessities for the rest of the year. Believe it or not I don't have family or friends with any sort of extra money.
- Plan A is to apply for a loan or line of credit using paypal earnings to show sales/growth ( apparently it helps ) credit is ok thanks to paying back most debt. If I fail I can get out of the debt with my current experience, but as long as I stick to a similar plan ( series of automated services or utilities that can be monetized and built within a weekend ) then I should be fine ( have a few of them in the bag )
- ^ Taking money to grow current service as large as possible and move on. Issue is whether or not I will qualify for a loan, which is why I am exploring available options.
Value Brought To Investor
- Build relationship early on.
- 2x investment that I am willing to take on as debt if I fail ( Won't fail but plan to offer option to investors )
- This isn't a "fund my lifestyle" ploy. I have read about the entrepreneurs taking money and vacationing etc. I figured a milestone based approach would work for both parties.
- I believe this would be a different approach to investing I would imagine some sort of media taking notice early on or even mid-game when things start getting exciting. ( Press for unique/different approach )
