If I make a forum post, with a link to my website, and the link is 'nofollow', yet the thread itself itself is a high ranking result for a user's query, is there any net benefit?
If a user clicks on the search result, lands on the forum post, then clicks my link, leaving the forum, is it going to de-rank the forum post? As Google would assume that website (the forum) does not have the answer the user was looking for.
This isn't really a behavior I'm looking to practice, I'm just trying to understand the technical side of how things work.
