Roast My Idea - Freelance Marketplace/App For College Students entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I've been dabbling with this idea for a couple days. I know there's a few other competitors however only one of them gets about 3M visitors a month, the others are are less than 5k.

I know Upwork allows hiring/filtering by students however Upworks' reputation has gone to shit and I would like a more college centered service. Perhaps I can provide resources on the next steps for students to get hired, creating a portfolio, interviewing, etc.

Summary: A platform to help college students find freelance work to gain industry specific experience, get their foot in the door to potential employers, and make a little bit of cash on the side (cough student loans cough). Offering everything from graphic design to proofreading.

The benefits of the platform are:

• Cheaper than hiring graduates or professionals because they don't have a degree/exp yet they have skills

• Students gain relevant work experience

• Companies can get first access to the most talented minds before competitors using traditional recruiting methods

• Gives students a foot in the door to their industry

• NO OUTSOURCED LABOR. None of this outsourced shitty labor from India. Companies can get work done by American (or wherever) students

• Serves and an online portfolio and reference for the student

Now I know most 1st & 2nd year students won't give a shit however during 3rd & 4th years is where skills are learned and developed, and students start to buckle down about their future. I feel like this is a huge untapped pool of skilled labor that can be taken advantage of.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts on this from an employer/business owners perspective. What challenges besides the obvious will this face? Would YOU use this kind of platform?
