Barber supply business entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

Hi all, I would love some input. I am a barber that is currently working out lease arrangements for my own little barbershop.

However in this process I've realized the need in my city for a barber supply. Tools sold to professionals here are sold at a very high mark up, there's a very limited selection of product and no parts for tools sold. The internet is the best option but you can't have anything right away - which often waiting isn't an option.

I would love for this to someday be a brick and mortar shop selling to pros and the public (at different price points) like many beauty storrs that currently exist - except cater to men's grooming needs. But you know, money.

So it's going to start as a side hustle. I've bought a business license, just waiting for the number. When I have that I can start ordering the product lines I want to carry. However the tool companies I've contacted to become a distributor require very large orders to be made. Much more than I could front or move right now.

All the orders I make will come to my house where I can store everything. I will go around to local barber shops and let them know about my services and what I provide. If they need a tool they can call/text/email and I will deliver same day. Hopefully recurring product inventory orders will become a thing, those will also be delivered to their store in person.

However because of the tool situation that forces me to buy elsewhere online and resell. I know the best prices and trends so I can purchase accordingly. For the most part when I get these items online they would be $10-15 higher than wholesale. I could then reasonably sell them for $20-30 above that depending on the product and current sales.

That's kind of a turn off for me. Being an actual distributor feels much more....legitimate? The same service would be offered just without the title. I would love input on if this is a legitimate concern I have or if I should just do what I can until I'm profitable enough to expand. Any other advice/input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
