Competitor reduced indexed pages by 50% resulting in huge boost in visibility in Google earn by blogging adsense income

I'm currently working on a case where I analyze a competitor (online store) who went from over 100k indexed pages to around 50k in July and ever since is gaining huge visibility in Google (30% uplift in Sistrix visibility index over the last 2 months) with tons of improved rankings and new keywords. One reason for the new keywords and rankings is that they extended their product range.

My guess for the drop in indexed pages is that they maybe solved a big duplicate content problem? But this is just an assumption.

Is there anyway to find out which pages got removed exactly? Are there any helpful tools?

I tried wayback machine but couldn't really see any differences on their webpage.
