[Discussion]Ranking impact of local vs foreign host location earn by blogging adsense income

Hey everyone,

I have a client who is about to swap webhost. Her current webhost is local, within a few hundred kilometers from where she has her audience. I sort of said I'd host her site for free on my infrastructure, which is far faster despite being a few countries over. I use DO droplets, located in Amsterdam and my client is located in Copenhagen.

Now, all that I've read indicates that moving server location would negatively impact her rankings. What do you think, have you observed this and if so, how severe is the punishment?

I'm gonna do it regardless and see what happens. So let me know if you want an update.
