Helping each other: a non profit idea entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

Hi fellow entrepreneurs,

Long time lurker. I love the energy and wisdom around this sub and, hopefully, this idea will resonate with some of you.

I have been thinking about this for a while and am getting closer and closer to pull the trigger on this project. I want to run the idea by you, bright businessmen, see if it would make sense, or if my naiveté is just too strong.

I want to build a website/app where people could do free favors to each other with nothing asked in return.

We are all so busy with our lives, trying to 'make it', that we often forget those around us that may not be as lucky nor have the tools to succeed on their own. Reddit has been an amazing community for people helping each other, but I think that a website dedicated to just that could help many more people.

We have all the tools nowadays to communicate halfway across the world with amazing people. Often though, we forget the fellow human beings near us, for whom a good deed could go a long way.

My idea would be to build an honour system around good actions, accumulating points whenever you help someone. Have to motivate people some way right?

Anyone could help and in any capacity they wish. It could be:

• Helping someone fix his car for free so he can go back to work

• Helping someone getting his finances in order

• Checking on an elderly person/building an access ramp

• Anything...

I would 100% strive to be the #1 helper on my website as I feel that we need to help each other, no questions or money asked.

Now, I am not sure as how it should get started. In order to be successful, it would have to generate some sort of buzz.

Since these favours should be somewhat local, do you think I should focus on a specific location/city at first?

Is it worth a shot?

We can't rely on our governments to help us anymore. Not talking about a specific country either. Just so many people feel abandoned.

We have the power to take things into our hands and make this society a nest of empathy and kindness towards one another.
