Usually it isn't because of any business strategy. Usually their businesses and ideas implode because they don't execute it well, procrastinate, are not consistent, unmotivated, wait around for money, flake on themselves, etc.
And those kinds of issues tend to be hard to fix. Business strategy is easy to fix. But those "human" issues are very hard to fix because if they were easy to fix, the person having them would have already fixed them :) so they tend to be lingering issues.
SO - to succeed in business, work on the things that hold you back. It will be much more financially rewarding.
