How does a company estimate its value? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I was watching clips of shark tank the other day and something that came into my mind is how do they value their company? Even bigger companies like apple and google. How do they establish how much they are valued at? Is it by sales? I'm sure larger corporations are much different than small businesses and I'm curious about both.
