Hello, Redditors

This is Mahesh Vamsi from Bangalore. I am a 23-year-old first-time entrepreneur. I have been doing this app for past 8 months, 6 months part-time and last two months full-time. I have total 2.5 years of professional experience in Software Engineering before doing this full time

I would like to answer the questions as per the format prescribed

1) My product is a Curated comedy video app, which will aggregate the best of the Comedy content from the Internet. So why this app when there is Youtube or Facebook?

Youtube is filled with lots of spam by content manipulators, who are doing it for money. Moreover there a billion videos on Youtube, finding good content has become hard. There is a lot of good content which is hidden too

Facebook is showing a lot of good content lately, but Facebook is not really a video watching platform. I mean you can watch, but there is a lot going on in Facebook like Events, Ads, Messages etc etc

I wanted to create something which will make the user laugh and only laugh, without having to search or find anything. Think of it as a comedy channel in a TV which is curated, spam free

2) There are no proper apps whose sole existence is to provide comedy content, sure there is 9 gag, but it's mostly only "pranks made by them"

3) I have been working on this app for 8 months, 6 months part time when I was consulting as a freelancer in my previous gig and for the past two months I have been doing this full time

4) The idea is to get to at least 100 thousand users at least in the first 6 months, one year plan is to get 250 thousand users. 5 years plan is to get 1 million users. I am looking at Quality over Quantity, I don't want a 10 million install number where people may or may not use the app. Even if I have 10 k users, people should be passionate about using it and should love the app for what it is

I have absolutely no clue in marketing, I thought FB marketing works well, but I boosted my App button on Fb page today for 2 USD some 320 people liked it, but I got less than 5 installs during that campaign. I absolutely underestimated the marketing effort needed. I need some help in this area, any advice is welcome

5) I launched it Yesterday only, a friend of mine when he signed up got an Internal server error, that's not really a good sign on the first day eh. Turns out I did not configure Redis properly for the sidekiq worker dyno

Positive experience: People love the logo, the splash screen, and overall feel. But they may be saying those things to me because they are my friends

6) Do not underestimate marketing efforts, if you just build the app hoping that people would come automatically is a bad idea. Even I thought I could list in product hunt today, turns out it would take me 3 consecutive days of upvotes in product hunt to be eligible for submission of my app

So this has been my story, please suggest me something on how do I promote this in a cost-effective way, I have a total marketing budget of 2000 USD. I need to make sure that I get at least 10 thousand installs for it, before going to investors or taking any further step
