Before you even start building your own business you have to step back and examine your own mindset. If you have the notion of starting your business with your guns blazing and automatically rank up to your veteran competitors right up, then you are wrong. The right mindset will help you reach places, but always put in mind that there is a process to that and a right time just like what Renee Groskreutz said in her podcast while talking with a client who is currently going through a dilemma.
Here are some of the tips I was able to take away from this podcast:
1.Start small and dream big when starting your business. Avoid any ideas of grandeur at the start. Instead, focus on moving your product out and getting to your potential customers rather than painstakingly building the suspense to yourself and because you think it's not grand enough.
2.Invest in your product more rather than the wrapping. Stop obsessing how your product should look good, instead, focus on building a better and reliable one. Trappings are nothing if there's nothing to back you up. Sometimes, less is more.
3.Get it out the door and constantly develop. A product always has room for improvement. You are not expected to deliver a 100% failproof product, but that doesn't mean that you will give a crappy one. Focus on building a reliable product, and constantly improve it.
4.Build your name from word of mouth. The news of a reliable and trustworthy product travels fast. If you do good on your product's reputation, your current customers are probably going to recommend you to their social circles.
