How should I handle this messup? entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I manufacturer and sell a sporting good product both b2c and b2b. A new dealer just came on board and there was an issue with their first order.

The postal service trashed their package and as best I can tell a missing part caused one of the products to fail for the end user.

I need to make sure I handle this, not just well, but spectacularly.

My current plan is to send them the parts they need with a hand written note and the entire box duct taped for comic effect. I would also include a free product for their customer to leave a better taste in their mouth so to speak.

What are your guys thoughts? How can I turn this messup into a great customer experience?
