Quick Cutting out a partner before it begins entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

Hey everyone. I think I know the answer to this one but I figured I would run it to get some perspective in case anyone has any related headaches.

Essentially, in this "partnership" we haven't agreed to anything on paper. There are only verbal and SMS discussions where we agreed on things. After setting up everything, it seems that I'm the only one holding his end up.

I had the idea of starting a marketing and promotions agency that focuses marketing strategy consulting as well as physically creating marketing materials (shirts, etc). Essentially, I would be able to flex my consulting/marketing muscle, while also playing a role selling physical items. Additionally, because bar league sports are MASSIVE in my town, being able to play the role of "shirt guy" will not only bring in money, but also be a networking opportunity for the marketing side of the biz.

Anyway - as many of you have probably seen before, he's a big talker, but not a big doer. The type of guy that thinks you can open up a restaurant with no experience, capital or anything like that, and play the role of manager without ever doing any of the serving/cooking/cleaning. The type of guy that thinks that all that business owners do is own their business and make money.

So - he tracked down a screen printing machine. We agreed to split the cost. I fronted the cash, and he has yet to pay me for it.

At this point, I don't give a shit. I want to cut him out, so I'm glad he hasn't paid me. He's not making meetings. He's not helping to fulfill our early orders. It's just me.

Is there going to be a real problem with me just saying "you're out?" Is there any way whatsoever that he can make a legitimate claim to anything because we had agreed to go in 50/50? I doubt there's a single issue, but I figured I would pose this to /r/entrepreneur just to see.
