Sometimes the old advertising works...really old entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

Buddy owns small car lot, and a YP Rep recommended he spend something like $8,000 for a 1 year ad in the local yellow pages.

The response? Yea, not going happen.

But thats when the rep pointed out there was only two car dealers listed in his YP, and that they distribute to 100k households in the area and that although not a lot of people use the YP anymore, he's going be a big fish in a very small pond and therefore will be noticed.

So he did it, as soon as the rep came down to $5k.

Result? Well he typically sells 15-20 cars a month. Last month he sold 32 cars. 5 of which can be directly linked to YP ad. He figures he's about broken even already.

I saw the YP book, god honest truth there aren't many people in it anymore. which seems to have brought down the price a lot of the ads, and less ads=less competition.

Just thought I'd share, maybe go get a YP book and see how many businesses in your industry are operating in your area. If none? Might be a good idea.
