I am looking for advice on getting funding for my business venture so I can make it happen sooner rather than later.
A little about me: I have terrible credit. Not because I don't pay my bills but I just don't have any credit. I have one secured credit card that I barely use because the limit is $300. I don't like spending money I don't have. I am working on this. I currently make about $40k a year and my SO makes around the same. We are saving up to start this company but it's going to take a while. We are located in Southern California (Orange County to be specific) and are also looking to start our company here.
About the business: It's a pest control business, let's get right to it. Yeah there is a lot of competition but most companies are doing it wrong. VERY wrong. My name is well know by a lot of big companies eg. The Irvine Company, Large hotel chains and quite a few property management companies. Will I nab those accounts right off the bat? No. But it's a step in the right direction. This company I want to start will be known for its customer service, ease of use and QUALITY. The number one problem in this industry is the revolving door of people. Customers hate seeing a new technician every month. How am I going to fix that? My plan is to pay my employees very well, provide world class training, flexible schedules (night routes, late starts, early starts etc.), a full benefits package for every employee, and just have my company be a nice place to work. Now, I know it takes time to get there but if I can provide world class service and get results, people will come. Quality employees and customers. If you want more info PM me or comment. I feel like this is already dragging on.
I estimate my startup costs to be around $25k-$40k. Why the $15k difference? The location of the office can affect the price drastically. Basically to start off I need a medium (3000ft² or so) warehouse/office, a truck and all the equipment and chemicals and a marketing budget. This number does not take into account future operating costs on losing months. So the number could actually be much higher. I think if I do some solid marketing this could get big pretty fast.
How do I go about getting funding for this? I'm happy to contribute as much of my own money as possible for this because I know it will work and I know it will be huge. I don't want to give away specifics on the internet but, I have a solid business plan and a lot of industry and management experience.
I am open to suggestions and comments. Any advice you have is also welcome.
Thank you for taking your time to read and converse.
Ninja edit: I'm going to bed now. But I will be back in the morning! Friday 12:47am
