I am pursuing a self-education path and as part of the study material I'd wish to include some finance. Specifically, I'm into IT/computer science and I aspire as an entrepreneur, perhaps not as soon as I'll start working.
To cut it short, to get some more in-depth knowledge besides common non-fiction books on entrepreneurship, investing and personal finance, I visited MIT's 15-3 Finance curriculum and inspected the minor's requirement. There is a 15.401 course on Managerial Finance, and if I found it useful I may continue to follow selected parts of the 15-3 course. 15.401 OCW page hasn't really much to offer, but the textbook Principles of Corporate Finance was within the recommendations and so I checked it out, reading chapter 1 from an excerpt. I seem to be liking it and with some supplements I may want to acquire as much as possible knowledge from 15.401 through this and other books.
In order to better define and assess the quality of my self-study path, I kindly ask you:
- Whether it is a good and useful idea to learn on my own from such institutional resources;
- Whether there are still better study resources for building understanding on what's behind finance/economics from an entrepreneur's perspective;
- Any other advice or caveat that you deem relevant to share.
You can answer any of the points above in the order that you prefer. This is not strictly a selfish post so include information that may turn out handy even to other readers!
