Until I was 21, whenever someone asked me for help with their website or conversions I quoted them a figure (like $300) for improving feature X, Y, Z. At 27, a lot has changed in the way I approach my leads (of course one reason is also that money doesn't matter to me much now so I don't rush into selling).
Today one of my friends/future business partners got me a lead to develop a website or increase the conversion rate for a driving school in Amsterdam.
I had my first meeting with them today and I see that they didn't have a good success with Adwords and they are looking for getting onto the front page of Google. They mentioned that they had about 2,600 organic hits from Google in last 30 days but almost 0 calls. And their call to conversion is very high (they claim almost 100%). I was almost immediately convinced that the problem is on the website and not with Google because even if they convert the traffic at 1% they should have at least 26 leads.
I was sharing my plan with my partners and I think this could be a good sample on how to capture leads so a good material for all of you. What does /r/entrepreneur thing about it?

I was thinking how to approach the driving school brother Ibrahim and here's the plan that clicked me:
Since I'm a bit away from SEO I do not want us to charge them for just our efforts without even evaluating how successful we can be. So instead, for €100 one time we can set them up a proper system to track their traffic and generate reports about their traffic and website stats like how many people come from Google, what they do on the website (Google Analytics), how many visits by mobile, how many bounces immediately etc.
This is important because that's the way we can we can learn if the problem is with the website or with low traffic. After we get the data we can work on improving their website for a week or two (which will also be tracked). And based on the difference (or success) between old and new website we can estimate how well we are doing. If we do good Insha Allah, this will set a high credibility in their eyes and we would be able to charge them much higher than we could if we give them a quote right now.
I will keep you all posted if I get the lead and how much I will charge them.
