You can't pay me $10 to do an easy task, but I'll spend 100x the effort for $1 entrepreneur how earn by blogging blog

I stumbled on this subreddit /r/slavelabour, saw an easy opportunity for money, and winced at the thought of actually doing it.

I can't work for people. I just can't. It feels like scraping my brain with a cheese grater.

I asked myself why. One reason is because it's confinement. I know if I pick up the leaves from this side of your yard, and move them to that side, you'll pay me $10, and that's it. It's 1:1 possible gain. I am riding a bicycle with no additional gears, uphill, with no possibility for a turbo boost. It's too demotivating. I can't summon the strength to keep up that effort, knowing it'll always be hard.

But I'll spend all day and most of the night, for a month, building a machine to move the leaves. By the time I'm done, I might've spent a lot of money, have physical injuries from the process, be stressed and exhausted, but emotionally, it feels alright. It feels better than if I picked them up myself.

Now the opportunity might be gone. You already paid someone to move the leaves. Everyone did. There's only someone with some left over who'll pay me $1 to use my machine. It's ridiculous. I'm in debt. But that $1 feels like a million.

Because it could be. Next season, I'll be ready. I've got the machine. I can do multiples of work. 1:100. I've got the gears. While everyone else is slaving away trapped in only what their muscles can handle, I'll wisk by, finishing all the jobs with minimal effort, and finally make a profit.

Maybe. Probably not. Probably I just did something really stupid, and would be better off if I worked for the $10. Probably I'll be more sore, more poor, and physically unwell from my misguided efforts.

But it's the dream. The easy job stuffs me in a box. The hard invention frees me to potentially fly, if it works, and if I'm lucky. Even though I'll probably crash, I can't willfully work in a box. I just can't. I'll take the $1, to keep my limitless imagination from being caged beneath a ceiling.
